Installation Spotlight: Japan Society’s None Whatsoever Exhibit

As 2024 draws to a close, we’re reflecting on the remarkable work and collaborations that made this year one to remember at Carpet Time.

From custom rugs and wall-to-wall installations for residential and commercial spaces to set design work for the entertainment industry, we’ve had the privilege of being part of a wide variety of exciting projects. But one particular theme stood out this year—our deep dive into museum and art gallery installations.

This year we were thrilled to partner with numerous museums and galleries to help bring their flooring visions to life. We are especially proud of our collaboration with Ransmeier Inc. on Japan Society’s exhibit, “None Whatsoever: Zen Paintings from the Gitter-Yelen Collection”. The exhibit ran from March 8 through June 16, 2024 and was a highlight for the entire Carpet Time team.

Color for the Zen Experience

Every installation we undertake is unique, but this project was particularly special. When we first met with the team at Ransmeier Inc., they were looking for a specific shade of purple. After viewing all the options they went with Carpet Time’s favorite Panache which has over 100 shades. Among these, the shade Viridian was the winner for the exhibit.

Tailored to the Space: Custom Cutting for a Curved Design

Carpet Time’s team of mechanics custom cut and seamed the carpet into shapes/curves designed by Ransmeier Inc around the layout of the exhibit. The carpet laid a beautiful foundation in the rooms as visitors explored the works of art. Each room was treated individually, ensuring that the carpet both complemented and highlighted the art collections on display.

It was a pleasure to collaborate with Ransmeier Inc. and the Japan Society, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity.

As a sign of appreciation, Carpet Time has donated this holiday season to Citymeals on Wheels who prepare and deliver meals for nearly 22,000 homebound elderly New Yorkers.
